Jumping dancers are slightly different than jumping toddlers, but when I got the opportunity to take photos of this talented ballerina-dancer, I had to say YES! Isn't she amazing?! Someday in another life, I will be a dancer.

We were so lucky to have our session on one of those crazy warm Ohio February days. Kelsey had the cutest pregnant bump! I also kept staring at her the entire session, feeling like I had seen her somewhere before. Then as I was editing photos I realized... it's because she looks just like Kate Middleton!
Sometimes new baby brothers are cool and sometimes they just steal all your blankets, toys, clothes, and attention. I can only imagine how hard it would be for a toddler to adjust to such a huge change. And often times, newborn photo sessions are the worst time to come to this realization. So if older siblings are not cooperative, it's ok! And it's normal! We may not get the exact photo you had dreamed about and envisioned in your mind, but I promise we will still get a few of them together. Lifestyle newborn sessions capture the raw beauty of life, and even if it's not perfect... it's still beautiful.
I felt so bad when I heard that Dad wasn't going to be part of the hospital newborn photo session because he was sick with the flu. Recovering from birth + a newborn + sick husband + toddler... life is SO not fair sometimes! But regardless of everything, they were such troopers! The morning light was beautiful coming into the room of the Riverside Women's Center. Baby Logan was perfect and just slept soundly the whole time. Big brother wasn't so sure about him, but loved sharing his "trash cans" (little coffee creamer cups) and showing him all the trucks out the window. One day they are going to be the cutest red-headed brothers!
I love doing newborn sessions in my natural light studio. It's actually a sunroom that I converted into a studio, so it still has that bright, natural look, but is staged with a white couch, white mid-century modern chair, white-washed wood floors, a white brick wall and 3 walls of windows with white curtains. Can you tell I love white? (I suppose the name White Elm Photography is a hint.) Anyway.... sweet baby Jocelyn was a dream! She slept when she was supposed to, showed us her bright beautiful eyes at all the right moments. And of course, we had to add a little festive tree for this beautiful Christmas baby!
Ellie is pretty lucky to have these two for parents. They are some of the kindest, sweetest, most loving people I know! I loved this lifestyle newborn session. I got to capture all the tender moments like snuggling, kissing, and nuzzling that perfect baby girl. She had the softest hair, brightest eyes, and most calm, peaceful presence.
Little Betsy may not have wanted to smile for me... but she was still the cutest, sweetest little girl! And that fur vest?! Baby fashion is my weakness. I would wear yoga pants and a t-shirt for the rest of my life, as long as my babies are well-dressed! But back to this session. The colors. Oh the colors! I'm obsessed with this beautiful world we live in.
